Submission of abstracts

The Scientific Committee invites authors to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation at the WCHA.

Deadline for submissions is 25th January 2012.

The Scientific Committee official acceptance of the paper will be sent by 1st February 2012.

For convenience 5 themes have been identified for the submission of abstract proposals.

Body Biological sciences, Issues related to physical health and ageing
Mind Mental, psychological, psychiatric and behavioural health
Spirit Spirituality and ageing
Socio-community Social sciences, community practices
Future Medicine Advances in medical technology

Before submitting your paper, please ensure you have carefully read the guidelines.
  • Abstract submission is FREE OF CHARGE.
  • Each Author can send a maximum of 2 papers.
  • Awards will be given for the best free paper presentation and best poster.
  • Abstracts should be original work. Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed.
  • Abstract must be submitted on-line via http://www.healthyageingcongress.com/index.php?art=17
  • No faxed abstracts will be accepted.
  • Abstracts successfully submitted will be reviewed by experts in the selected category
  • The submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the presenting Author to present the abstract (if accepted) orally or as a poster in the session and at the time assigned by the WCHA Scientific Committee. We therefore recommend that submitters of abstracts register for the Congress simultaneously with abstract submission.
  • All presenters will be required to register for the Congress and pay the registration fee.
  • Please be informed that Presenters of accepted papers can register to the Congress according to EARLY REGISTRATION FEE - SPECIAL DISCOUNTED FEE.

    Instructions for preparation of abstracts
  • The abstract should be structured into the following 6 sections: a. Title of the Paper, b. Background, c. Objectives, d. Methods, e. Results, f. Conclusions. Abstract titles should have a short, descriptive title with no abbreviations.
  • MAIN AUTHOR and CO-AUTHORS - Type in your name, degrees, institutions and please underline the PRESENTING AUTHOR's name
  • Your abstract is limited to a maximum of 300 words
  • Abstract descriptions may not contain tables, pictures, diagrams and symbols.
  • Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.
  • If an abstract is selected for oral presentation, the presenting Author as specified at submission will be requested to present it in the assigned session. Time allocated for selected oral presentations are 10 minutes. Details will be communicated to the author by 31st Jan 2012
  • If an abstract is accepted as a poster presentation; the presenting Author will be requested to be available for discussion during the corresponding poster viewing session.
    • -Posters will be set up close to the exhibition area.
    -The usable surface of the display panels measures 120 cm (height) x 80 cm (width); adhesive material will be provided.
    -Please use letters large enough to be read from a distance of 1.5 meters.

  • Please note that, if you have problems with the online submission of your paper, you can send it to the Organizing Secretariat in a Word document format (structured as indicated in the official submission guidelines), at the following e-mail address wcha@healthyageing.org. The Organizing Secretariat will upload your paper for you!
  • Please note that the system will only save the latest version submitted and delete all previous ones.
  • Abstracts not adhering to these guidelines will be rejected. If you do not agree with any of these rules, you should not submit an abstract. The final decision about acceptance of an abstract will be taken by the WCHA Scientific Committee.
  • If you need to withdraw your abstract, a written statement reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to the WCHA Congress Secretariat not later than 1st February 2012.
  • The submitting author of an abstract is requested to declare any potential conflicts of interest for all authors during the abstracts submission.
  • CERTIFICATION BY THE PRINCIPAL AUTHOR: by submitting this abstract I further certify that the studies described in the abstract that involved human beings conformed to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki World Medical Association (Clinical Research 1966:14:03) and met all the requirements governing informed consent of the country in which they were performed.
  • I declare that this abstract meets all of the above requirements and that the authors named are familiar with the data presented and given their consent for submission to WCHA. On behalf of all the authors, I hereby transfer copyright to WCHA
